Baking anything gluten-free is difficult. It either tastes really bad or doesn’t bake right. I judge any gluten-free product that I use on how “real” it tastes. Does this taste like regular food, or does it taste gluten-free?
I love finding products that actually give you a taste of normalcy. When you give up real food for the gluten-free stuff, your food desires and taste buds will never (or will take some time) quite recover from the taste of real food.
Few products taste normal, while others you just have to get used to. Here are some of my favorite gluten-free baking products that we use daily.
A portion of these products is Bob’s Red Mill Products. We love all of his gluten-free products, and we use them frequently.

The first product we use probably daily is
Bob’s Red Mill 1-1 Baking Flour
This is the flour that we use for everything from baking to cooking. We use it like you would any regular flour. But, gluten-free flour is different than wheat flour, it bakes and tastes slightly different.
Nature’s Eats Blanched Almond Flour
We have discovered, that if you want to make a good chocolate chip cookie, or any cookie for that matter. Use almond flour. It gives the cookie a much better taste.
Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Pizza Crust
There is but one pizza crust mix we use and this is it. This mix is good, but has it flaws as any gluten-free mix does. It bakes fairly well in a sheet pan, but not in a cast iron skillet.
Bob’s Red Mill Vanilla Cake Mix
Hello, deliciousness! This cake mix is amazing. It tastes so normal! Just like a cake should taste like.
I love this mix so much, and even better, it comes in chocolate too!
Chocolate Cake Mix
Bob’s Red Mill Pancake Mix
Anything in the bread family I will talk about in another post, but it is very hard to find anything bread-related that tastes good.
This pancake is one of the better ones we have tried. But there are some flaws. They take a long time to cook, and it never really cooks fully in the middle. Welcome to gluten-free land.
They tend to be flat, and slightly flavorless.
My best choice for pancakes, if we have the time, homemade ones.
Pillsbury Fudge Brownies
And the winner in the brownies categories is this one!! We have tried another brownie mix, but again, it never cooked in the middle and need a spoon to eat it. It crumbled and never could be cut in squares.
This is the best substitute for gluten-free brownies. But, if you like cookies more than brownies, let me introduce to you my next go-to cookie mix.
Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
If you are not a fan or, or don’t like making cookies from scratch, these are my favorite cookies to make.
Chewy, gooey, and all-around a really good cookie.
Reb Lobster Gluten-Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits
There were a lot of foods I had to give up when I became gluten-intolerant. So, I was so excited when we found this gem.
They are delicious warm from the oven, and pair perfectly with some spaghetti or soup.
These are some of my favorite baking products. I probably will change the list as I discover more products.
